Monrovia - On Monday, 13 November 2017, the Female Journalists Association of Liberia (FeJAL), with support from the United Nations Mission in Liberia (UNMIL) launched the nationwide gender sensitive capacity-building training for 70 Liberian journalists. This project is supported financially through the UNMIL’s Quick Impact Project (QIP).
At the launching ceremony, the Chief of the Public Information Office, Ms. Leigh Robinson expressed her honour to represent UNMIL and to acknowledge the collaboration with the Female Journalists Association of Liberia, whose “unerring commitment and energy has enabled this project to bloom.”
“As journalists, you are at the front line of opportunity. Positive change starts and ends with you. While the media’s influence alone is not sufficient to produce immediate change in how society understands and responds to gender issues, you will have a powerful tool and solid knowledge at your disposal,” - said Ms. Robinson.
The project envisions five days of intensive interactive training and engagement aiming to brainstorm, learn and discuss gender issues from every angle.
