Closure of UNMC

The United Nations Mission in Colombia was established on 26 January 2016 to provide support to the peace process. Its mandate ended on 26 September 2017, and its responsibilities were transferred to the United Nations Verification Mission in Colombia.

UN Mission in Colombia verifies the destruction of 620kg of munition and explosives by the FARC-EP

Llanos del Yari, Colombia - The UN Mission in Colombia verified today the destruction of 620 kg of explosives, detonators, gunpowder, grenades, mines, and bomb making components by the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia-People’s Army (FARC-EP).

The destruction was carried out in the Yari plains, Meta department, under the observation of experts and international observers from the UN Mission in the country.

The FARC-EP detonated explosives at 11:30 am today, in three different areas, according to international safety standards.
